Fine art pet portraits and pet photography in South Orange |

In South Orange, a good pet portrait is about more than getting an animal to sit still for a camera.
It is a chance to remember the expression, energy and personality that make a pet part of the family.
This November, photographer Julia Maloof Verderosa is bringing pet photography to SOMA with seasonal portrait appointments at Pet Wants SOMA.
The sessions are scheduled for Sunday, November 15, and Sunday, November 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Held at Pet Wants SOMA, 63 South Orange Avenue, the sessions offer an opportunity to create fine art pet portraits in time for holiday cards and gifts.
For anyone whose camera roll is full of blurry attempts to catch a familiar look, a portrait offers something more lasting.
It can celebrate a new companion, honor a longtime friend or give someone a gift that feels genuinely personal.
The invitation extends to all pets, including those who may need a little extra consideration.
Owners of sensitive or reactive animals are encouraged to reach out ahead of time to discuss accommodations.
That matters because a portrait should reflect a pet’s character, not put unnecessary pressure on the animal or its person.
There is a community benefit, too: a percentage of all sales will go to Rescue Haven Foundation, a local organization that rescues, heals and finds homes for animals in need.
It is a fitting connection for an occasion centered on the bond between people and pets.
Gift certificates are also available for anyone who would rather let a pet owner choose when to arrange a portrait.
For visitors driving into the village, Sunday parking is free in South Orange.
A covered garage sits behind the shop, with access from Taylor Place via Scotland Road or Vose Avenue.
Those interested in an appointment should contact the photographer for booking information and availability.
Holiday plans fill up quickly, and the best pet pictures are often the ones families are glad they made time for. |
