A Saturday built around local makers

If your holiday list includes anything edible, or you simply like browsing with a warm cup in hand, put Saturday, Nov. 7, on the calendar. Curate A Local Mercantile, at 8242 S University Blvd. #150 in Centennial (80122), is hosting its 2026 Holiday Open House, and two food makers are booked to share the day.

The City of Centennial events directory describes the open house as a day of holiday shopping and local makers, with Colorado-made foods, gifts, art, stationery and baby gifts among the offerings. For Pulse Eats, the draw is the pair of food appearances, scheduled back to back.

Morning: Sip, Shop & Savor with The Dulce Co.

From 10 a.m. to noon, The Dulce Co. brings its mobile coffee cart and baked goods to Curate's annual open house, according to the city's listing. The name of the event, Sip, Shop & Savor, sums up the plan nicely: coffee and something baked while you work through the gift list. The directory calls those baked goods "delicious." We haven't tried them, so we'll leave the final verdict to you.

A coffee cart parked at a neighborhood shop is a small thing, but it's the kind of small thing that turns an errand into an outing, especially on a fall Saturday when the first holiday displays are going up.

Midday: Chalk & Flour Bakery Holiday Pop Up

After a half-hour breather, the second act begins. From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Curate welcomes "Steph of Chalk & Flour Bakery" for a holiday pop-up, per the directory. If you'd like to get acquainted before Saturday, the bakery's website is at chalkandflour.com.

That timing works in your favor. Arrive late in the morning and you can catch The Dulce Co. before noon, browse the shop, then stay for the bakery pop-up at 12:30 without ever moving your car.

Why it matters in Centennial

Small food makers don't always have a storefront of their own, and pop-ups like these put them directly in front of neighbors in a familiar spot on University Boulevard. For shoppers, it's a chance to put a few locally made treats on the holiday table, or tuck them into a gift bag, while supporting a Centennial shop that makes room for Colorado makers. It's also a gentle way to start the season: one stop, two food makers, and a store full of local goods.

Plan your visit

Event details can shift, so give the city's directory a quick look before you head out Saturday morning. Then bring your list, your appetite and maybe a tote bag. The bigger question is whether any of those treats make it home for the holidays, or get eaten on the drive back.

I end up eating half my holiday treats before they even get home. Good to know I’m not the only one!

Went last year and spent way too much on soaps and candles, oops. May need to leave my credit card at home this time.

I hope there’s music or something festive. Last pop-up I went to there was super quiet.

Anyone know if Chalk & Flour does vegan options? I’d like to check it out if so.

Chalk & Flour's website is the best spot for up-to-date menus, but the bakery is known for seasonal varieties, vegan options may be available, so it's worth visiting or reaching out ahead!

Curate always curates (ha) a good selection. Excited to see new makers and maybe discover a new favorite snack.

Parking once and hitting both events is the move. Small events like this feel like the start of the holidays for me.

Is it okay to bring kids to this? My 5-year-old loves looking at art and would be all over the cookies.

Is there indoor seating at Curate or do you just wander and browse? Never been there before, but the event sounds fun.

Curate is designed for browsing rather than sitting, so you’ll be moving through the shop as you sip and shop, getting a closer look at everything local makers have to offer.
